The law firm of Israels & Neuman is currently investigating allegations made against Anselmo Contreras, Jr., who previously worked with Cambridge Investment Research. FINRA (the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) brought a regulatory action against Mr. Contreras, alleging that he converted or misappropriated $10,000 from a customer, and that he borrowed money from customers without notifying Cambridge Investment Research of such.
Anselmo Contreras was a registered representative and financial advisor of Cambridge Investment Research from September 2013 to January 2018. He also was affiliated with IFS Securities from January 2018 to April 2019. Contreras previously worked at branch offices in Angleton, Texas.
Broker-dealers like Cambridge Investment Research have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm, including investments sold by their registered representatives. Broker-dealers also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations.
