Michael Kamperman, formerly with HD Vest, Suspended 18 Months
Have you lost money with financial advisor Michael Kamperman of HD Vest in Waco, Texas? The law firm of Israels & Neuman is investigating allegations made against Michael Allen Kamperman. Kamperman was the subject of an investigation by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. FINRA alleged that Kamperman made unsuitable recommendations by concentrating eight of his clients in high risk, speculative energy sector investments, and that he also recommended an unsuitable exchange traded note (ETN). To settle these allegations, Kamperman agreed to an 18 month suspension from the securities industry and a $20,000 fine.
Michael Kamperman was a financial advisor and registered representative of HD Vest from December 2014 to June 2017. He was also affiliated with Prospera Financial Services from 2005 to December 2014. He worked at a branch office in Waco, Texas.
Brokerage firms like HD Vest have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies.
