Kendall Groom of Cetera from Fresno, California, Barred by SEC

Have you lost money with financial advisor Kendall L. Groom, formerly of Fresno, California?  We are investigating allegations made by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against Kendall Groom who worked with Cetera Financial and Independent Financial Group.  The SEC alleged that Groom misappropriated or stole about $460,000 of trust assets from customers.

Kendall Groom was a financial advisor and registered representative of Cetera Financial Specialists from 1999 to December 2016.  He was with Independent Financial Group from December 2016 to July 2019.  Groom worked at branch offices in Fresno, California and was also a licensed CPA.

Brokerage firms like Cetera Financial Specialists have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm.  Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies.  When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
