Paul Garnett and Edward Jones

Have you lost money with financial advisor Paul D. Garnett of Beatrice, Nebraska?  We are investigating allegations made by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, against Paul Garnett. FINRA suspended Garnett from the securities industry for one year for selling investments in a helicopter medical evacuation company (Medevac) that was not approved by his brokerage firm at the time, Edward Jones.

FINRA alleged that Paul Garnett recommended that his clients, including some who were also Edward Jones clients, invest in Survival Flight Group LLC, an Iowa-based Medevac company.  Garnett was also a “manager” of Survival Flight Group, according to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).  Survival Flight Group sold at least $2.5 million in investments to eight investors, including Garnett himself.  However, it was alleged that Garnett failed to disclose his sales of Survival Flight Group to Edward Jones prior to making these recommendations, in violation of FINRA Rules.  To settle these allegations, FINRA suspended Paul Garnett for one year and fined him $40,000.

Paul Garnett was a financial advisor and registered representative of Edward Jones from 1975 to July 2013.  He also worked with Securities America from August 2013 to October 2015.  He worked at a branch office in Beatrice, Nebraska.

Brokerage firms like Edward Jones have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm.  Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies.  When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
