Jose A. Zapata and Argentus Securities

Have you lost money with financial advisor Jose Zapata of Dallas, Texas?  We are investigating allegations made by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, against Jose A. Zapata. FINRA barred Zapata from the securities industry after he misrepresented the value of an account to his customer.

FINRA alleged that Zapata had a customer who resided in Mexico.  For security reasons, the customer requested that account statements were not sent to her home.  She would call Zapata to get the value of her account.  FINRA alleged that between September 2012 and October 2013, Zapata misrepresented the value of the customer’s account over the telephone; the account was valued at $108,000, but Zapata represented it to be valued at $170,000.  FINRA barred Jose Zapata from the securities industry over these allegations.

Jose Zapata was a financial advisor and registered representative of Argentus Securities from January 2009 to December 2013.  He worked at a branch office in Dallas, Texas and Houston, Texas.

Brokerage firms like Argentus Securities have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm.  Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies.  When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
