Investigation of Lance Slater and Morgan Stanley
Have you lost money with financial advisor Lance Slater of Mount Laurel, New Jersey? We are investigating allegations made by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, against Lance Slater. FINRA barred Slater from the securities industry after he failed to respond to a FINRA investigation. FINRA was investigating Slater regarding allegations that he borrowed money from customers, in violation of FINRA rules.
Lance Slater was a financial advisor and registered representative of Morgan Stanley from January 2014 to November 2015. Slater was also affiliated with UBS Financial Services from 2009 to January 2014. He worked at branch offices in Mount Laurel, New Jersey and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Slater has two customer complaints on his record, which allege that he excessively traded customers’ accounts, in addition to borrowing money from customers.
Brokerage firms like Morgan Stanley have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies. When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
