SEC Files Complaint Against Patric Baccam of Highland, California
Have you lost money with financial advisor Patric Baccam of Highland, California? We are continuing our investigation into allegations made by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against Patric K. Baccam, a former registered representative of Centaurus Financial. The SEC recently brought a complaint against Baccam, alleging that he raised nearly $1 million in promissory notes for bogus companies.
The SEC alleged that Baccam raised money for several companies, including the Moret Group, Precision Research Group, and Prim Group, which were purported to invest in flipping houses. The SEC alleged that Precision Group and Prim Group were owned and operated by Baccam. It further alleged that Baccam used investor funds to pay for personal expenses, such as a mortgage on his primary residence, food, and service on his car.
Patric Baccam was a financial advisor and registered representative of Centaurus Financial from February 2002 to December 2011. He worked at a branch office in Hemet, California. According to BrokerCheck, Baccam has been the subject of seven customer complaints.
Brokerage firms like Centaurus Financial have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies. When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
