INVESTOR ALERT! Cory Williams

Eric Sampson, formerly of Girard Securities, Inc., subject of Utah Regulatory Action

Have you lost money with financial advisor Eric H. Sampson of St. George, Utah?  We are investigating allegations made by the Utah Division of Securities.  The Utah Division of Securities brought a complaint, alleging that Sampson had solicited investors to invest in a number of entities, including:

  1. Shooks Run, LLC
  2. Wright Total Indoor Comfort, Inc.
  3. The Hills at Santa Clara, Inc.
  4. Santa Clara Hills Holding, LLC, and
  5. Golden Assets, LLC

Eric Sampson and his wife Niki were alleged to have operated a registered investment advisory firm called My Investment Advisor, Inc. (or My IA).  Utah alleged that Sampson raised more than $6.2 million from at least 26 investors between 2010 and 2015, through the sale of promissory notes of Shooks Run, Wright Total Indoor Comfort, the Hills at Santa Clara, Santa Clara Hills Holding, and Golden Assets.  Utah further alleged that Eric Sampson and his wife, Niki, misrepresented and omitted material risks to investors.  It was further alleged that Sampson and his wife misused at least $1.2 million of investor funds on personal expenses, and that at least $661,000 was used to pay off other investors as “interest” payments.  Utah seeks to bar Sampson from the securities industry.

Eric Sampson was a financial advisor and registered representative of Girard Securities from April 2010 to May 2012.  He also was affiliated with World Choice Securities from June 2012 to December 2012.  He worked at a branch office in St. George, Utah.  Sampson has also been the subject of at least three customer complaints.

Brokerage firms like Girard Securities and World Choice Securities have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm.  Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies.  When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
