Israels & Neuman, PLC Investigates Martin Olson, Formerly of RBC Capital Markets
Have you lost money with financial advisor Martin C. Olson (CRD# 1673374), formerly of RBC Capital Markets in Buffalo Grove, Illinois? We are investigating allegations of former customers related to Martin Olson. Martin Olson and his former brokerage firm, RBC Capital Markets, were the subject of a complaint filed in FINRA arbitration.
The customers alleged that Martin Olson recommended that they invested in the IPO of a mutual fund called Alpine Total Dynamic Dividend Fund (symbol “AOD”). Olson also allegedly recommended a high concentration of investments in oil, gas, and energy companies. The customers alleged that these investment recommendations were unsuitable. An arbitration panel in Michigan awarded the customers $250,000 in damages.
Martin Olson was a registered representative of RBC Capital Markets from 1998 to November 2017. He has worked at a branch office in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.
Brokerage firms like RBC Capital Markets have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies. When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
