INVESTOR ALERT! Timothy Mills of NYLife in Okemos, MI

Susan Walker, formerly with Ameriprise Financial Services, Subject of SEC Complaint

Have you lost money investing with Susan Walker from Wayzata, Minnesota?  We are investigating allegations made by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against Susan E. Walker, formerly with Ameriprise Financial Services.  Walker was the subject of a complaint by the SEC, who seeks to bar her from the securities industry.  The SEC brought this complaint after Walker had pleaded guilty to fraud back in 2014, and she was also previously barred by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) after Walker failed to respond to its investigation.

Ameriprise was also previously fined $4,500,000 for failing to supervise and detect theft or conversion by five of its registered representatives.  Those representatives include Walker, Justin Weseloh, Barbara Stark, Jeffrey S. Davis, and Jennifer Johnson. The SEC alleged that Ameriprise failed to detect these representatives’ theft from client accounts, which was done through wire transfers.  The SEC further alleged that Ameriprise’s lacked a reasonable supervisory system to detect wire disbursements from client accounts.

Susan Walker was a representative of Ameriprise from December 2008 to April 2013.  She worked at a branch office in Wayzata, Minnesota.

Brokerage firms like Ameriprise Financial Services have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm.  Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies.  When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
