WARNING! Brandon Adkins from Eau Claire, Wisconsin
Have you lost money with financial advisor Brandon M. Adkins of Eau Claire, Wisconsin? We are investigating allegations made by the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions against Brandon M. Adkins. Wisconsin alleged that Adkins was terminated by his former brokerage firm, Merrill Lynch, on December 17, 2014, regarding allegations that he recommended the purchase of securities that had not been researched or approved by Merrill Lynch.
It was also alleged that Brandon Adkins borrowed $30,000 from an elderly client in January 2015 after he was terminated by Merrill Lynch. Adkins did not tell the client that he was terminated by Merrill Lynch. Adkins has failed to pay the client back. Wisconsin is proposing to revoke Adkins’ investment advisory registration with the State.
Brandon Adkins was a financial advisor and registered representative of Merrill Lynch from July 2011 to December 2014. He worked at a branch office in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Adkins has at least one customer complaint on his BrokerCheck Report.
Brokerage firms like Merrill Lynch have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies. When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers. Moreover, a firm may have liability for failing to notify a customer that the customer’s advisor was terminated by the firm.
