Shirley Wong, Formerly with NI Advisors, Subject of GWG Complaints

A review of Shirley Wong’s BrokerCheck reveals that she has been the subject of four customer complaints since June 2022. At least two of those complaints involve investments in GWG Holdings, including GWG L Bonds. The other two complaints are possibly related to GWG as well but do not specify whether GWG was involved. The combined alleged losses from these complaints total over $750,000.

Many advisors across the country were selling investments in GWG, but GWG investments carried significant risk. GWG Holdings filed for bankruptcy protection in April 2022, which likely means that investors will have suffered significant losses in their GWG investments. If a recommendation to invest in GWG L bonds was unsuitable for a customer, then Wong and NI Advisors could be responsible for any investor losses.

Shirley Wong was with NI Advisors from January 2011 to December 2012 and again from January 2014 to the present. She has worked in an office in Daly City, California. Wong has been in the securities industry since December 2004.
