FINRA (the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) has brought an investigation into Francis Velten alleging he has failed to respond to its investigation into allegations that he churned or flipped his elderly customers’ accounts while registered with Summit Brokerage Services.

Frank Velten had been an advisor with Summit Brokerage Services from 2006 to August 2018. He had previously been affiliated with Independent Financial Group and Ameriprise Financial Services. Velten had previously been the subject of nine customer complaints, including a recent complaint about Sabrient Systems Inc.

According to FINRA Rules, financial advisors and brokerage firms must respond to FINRA investigations. If the advisor or firm fails to respond to the investigation, they can be barred from the securities industry. Moreover, financial advisors have a duty to make suitable investment recommendations to their customers.
