Are you a current or former client of financial advisor Mark Williams, formerly with Centaurus Financial in Carmel, California? We are looking into allegations made against Mark Williams, who has been the subject of two customer complaints, one of which was filed in March 2022. The March 2022 complaint alleges that Williams sold an unsuitable investment in a bond. The bond is believed to be that of the GWG L bonds; GWG filed for bankruptcy earlier this week, and investors are likely to take substantial losses in GWG-issued investments.
Mark Williams was with Centaurus Financial from November 2015 to March 2021. The GWG bond sales allegedly took place in November 2019 and December 2020. Williams has been in the securities industry since 2000 and worked in Carmel, California.
FINRA Rule 2111 provides that financial advisors must make suitable investment recommendations to investors. The advisor and/or brokerage firm must also perform adequate due diligence on a product before its sold to investors, so that advisors can understand and explain the features and risks of an investment to a customer. If the advisor and/or brokerage firm fail in these respects, they can be responsible for customer losses.
