Israels & Neuman, PLC and Michael Valenti Investigate Christopher Bennett and Hilliard Lyons
Have you lost money with financial advisor Christopher Bennett (CRD #2510231), of Hilliard Lyons in Louisville, Kentucky? Israels & Neuman and attorney Michael Valenti have launched a joint investigation into allegations made by former customers of Christopher Bennett. Christopher Duke Bennett and his brokerage firm, JJB Hilliard, WL Lyons (also known as Hilliard Lyons), were recently the subject of a complaint filed in FINRA arbitration.
The customer alleged unsuitable investment recommendations, such as Breitburn Energy, Ocwen Financial Corp., FNMA Preferred stocks (“Fannie Mae”), and Horsehead Holding Corp and that she did not give Mr. Bennett her authorization prior to him making certain trades. The customer alleged that these investment recommendations were unsuitable. An arbitration panel in Louisville, Kentucky awarded the customer $445,000 in damages in February 2018.
Christopher Bennett has been a registered representative of Hilliard Lyons from 1995 to the present. He has worked at a branch office in Louisville, Kentucky. Bennett has now been the subject of six customer complaints.
Brokerage firms like Hilliard Lyons have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies. When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
