Former Westpark Capital Advisor Al Vanderlaan and GWG

Did you invest with financial advisor Al Vanderlaan from Watertown, South Dakota? Our law firm is reviewing allegations made against Alfred Vanderlaan, who was a registered representative of Westpark Capital from May 2019 to June 2022.  According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, Vanderlaan and Westpark Capital were the subject of a customer complaint made in March 2023, where the customer alleged that Vanderlaan misrepresented risks of GWG investments.

Financial advisors have obligations to sufficiently know a product before recommending such to an investor.  GWG Holdings filed for bankruptcy in April 2022.  Advisors have informed investors that they should wait for the bankruptcy process to complete, but it is believed that most investors will suffer substantial losses of their GWG bonds.

Alfred Vanderlaan was working at an office in Watertown, South Dakota while affiliated with Westpark Capital.  Vanderlaan has been the subject of eight other customer complaints besides the GWG complaint made in March 2023, and he was also fined $1,500 by the South Dakota Division of Securities in 2013.
