Arbitration Award Against Wells Fargo Advisors Regarding Advisor Jeff Wilson

 

In Pryor v. Wells Fargo Advisors, a claimant brought claims against Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC, regarding the conduct of financial advisor Jeff R. Wilson from Las Cruces, New Mexico.  The claimant alleged fraud, negligent misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duty, negligent supervision, and violations of securities laws in connection with the sale of investments in energy and housing investments.

 

The case proceeded in FINRA Arbitration (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) before three arbitrators with a hearing venue in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The arbitrators found that Wells Fargo Advisors was liable and ordered them to pay the Claimant $357,000 plus interest.  The award was featured in investmentnews.com.

 

Jeff R. Wilson is a financial advisor and registered representative of Wells Fargo Advisors from May 2014 to the present.  He has worked at branch offices in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  Jeff Wilson has been the subject of two other customer complaints.

 

Brokerage firms like Wells Fargo Advisors have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm.  Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies.  When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
