David Sheppard, formerly of Meyers Associates, Barred from Securities Industry

 

Have you lost money with financial advisor David Sheppard of New York, New York?  We are investigating allegations made by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, against David L. Sheppard. FINRA barred Sheppard from the securities industry after he failed to respond to a FINRA investigation.  FINRA was investigating Sheppard for allegations that he engaged in excessive trading (or churning) in four customers’ accounts.

 

David Sheppard was a financial advisor and registered representative of Meyers Associates from December 2015 to October 2016.  He also worked with Aegis Capital from February 2014 to December 2015.  He worked at a branch office in New York, New York.  Sheppard has been the subject of at least three customer disputes.

 

Brokerage firms like Meyers Associates and Aegis Capital have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm.  Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies.  When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
