WARNING! Jean Walsh-Josephson and Maxine Gehrt from Oshkosh, Wisconsin
Have you lost money with financial advisor Jean Walsh-Josephson and Maxine Gehrt of Oshkosh, Wisconsin? We are investigating allegations made by Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions against Walsh-Josephson and Gehrt. Wisconsin alleged that Jean Walsh-Josephson misappropriated or stole at least $302,000 in cash from a Wisconsin resident in 2010. The Wisconsin Office of Commissioner of Insurance also alleged that Walsh-Josephson misappropriated at least $500,000 from clients. Wisconsin barred Jean Walsh-Josephson from both the securities and insurance industries.
In a related action, Wisconsin alleged that Maxine Gehrt worked in the same office as Walsh-Josephson from 2005 to June 2014. Wisconsin alleged that Gehrt witnessed Walsh-Josephson take possession of the cash but did not report it to her brokerage firm, Thrivent Investment Management, despite Thrivent’s policies which required reporting of such. Wisconsin barred Gehrt from the securities industry for this conduct.
Jean Walsh-Josephson was a financial advisor and registered representative of Thrivent Investment Management from 1996 to September 2015. She worked at a branch office in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Maxine Gehrt also was affiliated with Thrivent Investment Management from 1993 to September 2010, working in the same Oshkosh office.
Brokerage firms like Thrivent Investment Management have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies. When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
