John Olinghouse from Sparks, Nevada Suspended from Securities Industry for One Year
Have you lost money with financial advisor John Olinghouse of Sparks, Nevada? We are investigating allegations made by FINRA (the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority), against John E. Olinghouse. FINRA suspended Olinghouse for one year from the securities industry and fined him $15,000.
FINRA alleged that John Olinghouse falsified numerous forms before submitting them to his brokerage firm, HD Vest Investment Services. This alleged conduct took place between November 2011 and April 2015. FINRA alleged that Olinghouse would copy and paste signatures from other customers’ documents or would use white-out to alter information already on the forms.
John Olinghouse was a financial advisor and registered representative of HD Vest Investment Services from June 2011 to April 2015. He was also with Fortune Financial Services from June 2015 to July 2015. He worked at a branch office in Sparks, Nevada. Olinghouse has been the subject of one customer complaint. He also operated a company called Wildcreek Business Services.
Brokerage firms like HD Vest Investment Services have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies. When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
