 Have you lost money with advisor John Matson in Manhattan Beach, California? Israels & Neuman is looking into claims made against John N. Matson, who previously worked for LPL Financial.  A review of FINRA’s Disciplinary Database shows that Matson was expelled from the securities industry by FINRA, after Matson failed to respond to an investigation.

The investigation into Matson began after an 80-year-old customer called FINRA’s Senior Helpline in October 2022.  The senior claimed that Matson recommended an investment in a promissory note, and that the note failed to continue to pay interest.  Matson was then terminated by LPL Financial after he failed to fully cooperate with LPL Financial’s internal investigation.  That led to his investigation and expulsion by FINRA.

According to BrokerCheck, John Matson had been with LPL Financial from 2007 to July 2015 and again from November 2017 to December 2022.  Matson also previously worked for Ameriprise.  Matson worked in a Manhattan Beach, California office.  He was also the subject of two customer complaints.

Financial advisors like John Matson are subject to FINRA Rule 8210, which requires them to respond to FINRA’s investigations.  In addition, LPL Financial must reasonably supervise the conduct of its brokers like John Matson.  If it failed to adequately supervise Matson or other advisors, the firm could be responsible for financial losses.
