Jonathan Sweeney, formerly with Navy Federal Brokerage Services, Barred from Securities Industry
Have you lost money with financial advisor Jonathan Sweeney of San Diego, California? We are investigating allegations made by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, against Jonathan G. Sweeney. FINRA barred Sweeney from the securities industry regarding allegations that he intentionally misrepresented the features of variable annuities to induce a customer to sell two annuities and purchase two others. FINRA also alleged that Sweeney made unsuitable investment recommendations to invest in these annuities, and that he had used previously-signed customer forms and reused these signatures on later forms.
Jonathan Sweeney was a financial advisor and registered representative of Navy Federal Brokerage Services from June 2011 to May 2016. He worked at branch offices in San Diego and Temecula, California. Sweeney was also terminated by Navy Federal Brokerage Services for this conduct.
Brokerage firms like Navy Federal Brokerage Services have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies. When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
