Aaron Israels has represented hundreds of investors in investment fraud cases against securities broker-dealers, registered investment advisory firms, banks, trust companies, and insurance companies. He has handled FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) arbitration proceedings in nearly every state and has also represented investors in JAMS and AAA arbitration, and state and federal court cases across the country. Aaron thrives on the road and welcomes the prospect of prosecuting securities claims wherever clients may need his help.
Aaron’s investment fraud cases typically stem from misconduct by financial advisors during the sale or management of securities or the misappropriation of investment funds. He has prosecuted a wide range of securities claims, including:
- Violations of state and federal securities laws
- “Selling away” transactions
- Fraudulent investments
- Theft of investor funds
- Ponzi schemes
- Trading and concentration issues
- Unsuitable investments
- Fraud in the sale of securities
- Due diligence failures in financial products
Aaron is licensed to practice law in Michigan, Illinois, Arizona, and Colorado and is admitted to practice before various federal courts nationwide. He is also a member of the Federal Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois, a distinction reserved for attorneys with significant federal trial experience.
Aaron earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy, with a minor in business, from Eastern Michigan University in 2004. At the age of 20, during his undergraduate studies, he began working in the legal field as an intern at a personal injury law firm in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He later attended the University of Detroit Mercy Law School, where he earned his law degree in 2007, receiving several academic accolades. In both 2016 and 2019, Super Lawyers magazine recognized him as a “Rising Star” in securities litigation.
An active member of PIABA (the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association), Aaron has served as chair of multiple committees within the organization, which is dedicated to protecting investors’ rights and promoting investor education.
In addition to his securities litigation practice, Aaron handles personal injury cases. Unlike his securities practice, which is national in scope, his personal injury work is primarily focused on West Michigan, the greater Ann Arbor area, and Chicago, although he is generally willing to file cases throughout Michigan and Northern Illinois. More details about his personal injury practice can be found at www.aaronunderstands.com.
Outside of work, Aaron enjoys building and repairing things, traveling, and hiking with his dog.
