Stephen Coupe, formerly with First Allied Securities, Subject of Washington Securities Division Complaint
Have you lost money with financial advisor Stephen Coupe of Silverdale, Washington? We are investigating allegations made by the Washington Securities Division. Washington alleged that Coupe made trades in First Allied Securities customer accounts without receiving prior written authorization. Stephen Coupe had previously been on heightened supervision by First Allied Securities between November 2013 and November 2015 for making discretionary trades without authorization. After the heightened supervision plan was completed, Coupe allegedly bought the same stock in 12 customer accounts in eight minutes.
Stephen Coupe was a financial advisor and registered representative of First Allied Securities from December 2008 to April 2017. He worked at branch offices in Silverdale, Washington. He also owned and operated Coupe Insurance and Financial Corp. Coupe was terminated by First Allied Securities regarding these allegations.
Brokerage firms like First Allied Securities have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies. When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
