Thomas Breslin, formerly of LPL Financial, Suspended from Securities Industry for Five Months
Have you lost money with financial advisor Thomas Breslin of San Diego, California? We are investigating allegations made by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, against Thomas J. Breslin, Jr. FINRA suspended Breslin from the securities industry for five months and fined him $5,000. FINRA was investigating Breslin after he was alleged to have solicited three investors to invest a total of $375,000 in a biopharmaceutical company without first obtaining permission from his brokerage firm, LPL Financial.
Thomas Breslin was a financial advisor and registered representative of LPL Financial from September 2005 to April 2016. He worked at a branch office in San Diego, California. Breslin also was the subject of a $53,961 tax lien in 2012. LPL Financial terminated Breslin for the above-mentioned conduct.
Brokerage firms like LPL Financial have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies. When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
