Jon L. Cox and LPL Financial

Have you lost money with financial advisor Jon L. Cox of Knoxville, Tennessee?  We are investigating allegations made by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, against Jon “Larry” Cox.  Cox was barred from the securities investigation after he failed to respond to a FINRA investigation.  FINRA was investigating Cox for allegations that he sold private securities offerings, engaged in outside business activities, and borrowed money from customers without approval from his brokerage firm, LPL Financial.

Jon L. Cox was a financial advisor and registered representative of LPL Financial from 2001 to January 2014.  He worked at a LPL branch office in Knoxville, Tennessee.  He was fired from LPL in January 2014.  Cox has two customer complaints on his record, and a 2011 judgment against him of $95,000.

Brokerage firms like LPL Financial have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm.  Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies, such as refraining from selling investments and securities that are not approved by the firm.  When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
