Joseph Daigneault and Investors Capital Corp.

Have you lost money with financial advisor Joseph Daigneault of Biddeford, Maine?  We are investigating allegations made by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, against Joseph Daigneault. FINRA investigated Daigneault, alleging that he provided inaccurate information regarding the value of investor holdings on consolidated reports that he provided to customers, from 2005 to 2013.

FINRA alleged that Daigneault used the purchased price of alternative investments (like non-traded REITs and private placements) as the current value of the investments, which were untrue.  Daigneault was also alleged to have used a column for the “death benefit” for investments that did not have death benefits.  To settle these allegations, Joseph Daigneault was suspended for 20 days and fined $5,000.

Joseph Daigneault is a financial advisor and registered representative of Investors Capital Corp. from 1996 to the present.  He worked at a branch office in Biddeford, Maine.  Daigneault has been the subject of at least one other customer complaint, in which a customer alleged losses of $1 million regarding the sale of alternative investments like non-traded REITs.

Brokerage firms like Investors Capital Corp. have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm.  Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies.  When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
