Michael S. Bell and Westpark Capital Inc.
Have you lost money with financial advisor Michael S. Bell from Boca Raton, Florida? We are investigating allegations made by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, against Michael Bell. FINRA alleges that Bell used a personal email address to solicit investors to invest in a private placement offering identified as “MD”, a product that was offered by his brokerage firm, Westpark Capital, Inc. The use of his personal email to solicit investors allegedly violated Westpark Capital’s internal policies and procedures. FINRA further alleged that Bell made representations that were “unbalanced, promissory, misleading, and/or lacked reasonable basis”.
From April 2014 to June 2014, Michael Samuel Bell made at least 20 emails soliciting investors to invest in MD. He represented this investment as being a “warrant” to buy stock in MD before an initial public offering (IPO). Westpark Capital acted as a placement agent for a company called Tandon Digital, Inc. Tandon Digital is the parent company of Monster Digital.
As part of the investigation, Michael Bell agreed to a three month suspension. No fine was imposed, as it was alleged that Bell had the inability to pay any fine.
Michael Bell was a financial advisor and registered representative of Westpark Capital Inc. from April 2010 to June 2014. He worked at a branch office in Boca Raton, Florida. Bell was fired from Westpark Capital for this conduct. Bell has been the subject of at least 8 customer complaints, as well as a 2006 regulatory complaint.
Brokerage firms like Westpark Capital have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies.
