INVESTIGATION OF Jed Tinder

Investigation of Thomas Schober and SII Investments, Inc.

Have you lost money with financial advisor Thomas Schober of Westborough, Massachusetts?  We are investigating allegations made by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, against Thomas P. Schober. FINRA barred Schober from the securities industry concerning allegations that he recommended unsuitable variable annuity exchanges for two elderly customers.

FINRA alleged that Thomas Schober misrepresented or omitted the surrender charges that the elderly couple would incur when exchanging the annuities.  FINRA alleged that Schober had no reasonable basis to recommend these exchanges.  It was also alleged that Schober falsified records in an attempt to cover up this conduct.  Schober was terminated by his brokerage firm, SII Investments, for this conduct.

Thomas Schober was a financial advisor and registered representative of SII Investments, Inc. from June 2007 to January 2015.  He worked at a branch office in Westborough, Massachusetts.

Brokerage firms like SII Investments have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm.  Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies.  When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
